Cancer has affected my whole family. My father and sister both died of it. Out of 7 siblings, 6 of us have had cancer. I heard my own diagnosis of breast cancer in 2013. I had surgery, chemo, and radiation—14 months of treatment. I counted on the LFCC for medicine, support, and a place and people who knew me and were always looking out for me. They partnered with Dana Farber and Brigham and Women’s to give me the best possible care right here in Brewer. The advances because of research saved my life. Cancer temporarily knocked the wind out of me and took my power. I took it back, and continue to grow it by raising money, helping survivors and caretakers, and cheering on everyone who crosses the finish line at Champion the Cure. It’s exhilarating, and it matters. Join me!
