Later this year, Blazing Saddles will once again be riding in the Northern Light EMMC Champion the Cure Challenge Trail Ride to raise money for cancer research. As team leader, this is very personal for me. In December of 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but I was not alone. Each year, more than 8,000 Mainers are diagnosed with cancer. That is a lot of people. A lot of mothers and fathers and children and grandparents sharing far too much pain, suffering, and mental anguish. This needs to stop. It needs to stop hurting and killing our family members, our friends, and our neighbors and community members. And unfortunately, it is not going to stop by itself.
To stop cancer we need to fund further cancer research. Plain and simple. Complaining about it won't end it. Wearing ribbons won't end it. We've got to fund the research to find a cure.
That's why our Blazing Saddles team is riding in this event and why we hope you will help us. Please consider donating whatever you can. No amount is too small when we all pitch in. Or even better, consider joining our team and helping us to raise these much-needed funds.
